An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 7 Registered Nurse to lead the dedicated team on Kimberley Ward within our Gastroenterology service.

Gastroenterology is a dynamic, evidence-based specialty that provides excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression within a supportive and collaborative environment. Our expert multidisciplinary team delivers high-quality care to patients with a wide range of gastroenterological conditions, from complex nutritional and eating disorders to acute gastrointestinal bleeds and other specialist conditions.

Main duties of the job

As the Ward Manager, you will provide visible, professional leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care while fostering a positive and supportive working environment.

Key responsibilities include:

o Providing leadership and accountability for the standards of nursing practice within the ward, ensuring care is delivered in line with professional standards, Trust policies, and evidence-based practice.o Leading, managing, and developing the nursing workforce to deliver a high-quality, patient-centred, and cost-effective service.o Promoting a culture of continuous improvement, supporting staff development, wellbeing, and professional growth through effective supervision, appraisal, and education.o Ensuring the ward operates efficiently, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, effective resource management, and compliance with quality and performance standards.o Managing complaints, clinical incidents, and near misses within the ward, ensuring they are investigated promptly, lessons are identified, and appropriate actions are implemented to improve patient safety and quality of care.o Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient outcomes and enhance the patient and family experience.

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Registered Nurse on appropriate part of the NMC Register Willingness to further develop knowledge and skills

Extensive post registration experience including significant experience within relevant speciality at Band 6 or equivalent
