Bank Staff Nurses required to join East Coast Community Healthcare's bank workforce. Are you a Registered Nurse looking for more flexibility with the ability to pick and choose your own shifts?
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Registered General Nurses to join our night community nursing teams working in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area as a bank member of staff. You will be based at either Beccles Hospital or James Paget University Hospital and will work with a Health Care Assistant to deliver care to patients across the Great Yarmouth and Waveney areas. The successful candidates will be an experienced practitioner who is able to support patients and their families in challenging situations. As a clinician working out of core hours the role will require an ability to work closely with professionals from other organisations. The night service currently works between the hours of 20.00 and 07.00.
The service delivers unplanned care to patients and will require the successful candidate to be resilient and resourceful. You will be working within an established team of clinicians who visit patients in their own homes and Residential Care, visits are completed by a registered and a non registered nurse working in partnership. The desire to deliver excellent end of life care is essential.
Interviews are provisionally scheduled to take place on 12th September 2026.
Main duties of the job
The successful nurse will have proven skills in symptom management within end of life care, including setting up and managing syringe drivers. In addition, the successful nurse will demonstrate compassion at the core of their clinical practice, and will offer a calm and clinically confident approach even in highly emotive settings. Competence in urethral and supra-pubic catheter care is essential. The team deliver urgent community response visits out of hours, including to people who have fallen and those experiencing a care crisis. Due to the variable nature of urgent response work, the role requires flexibility and critical thinking.

The out of hours team works in pairs across two geographical areas, predominantly covering visits requiring a 2 hour response overnight. The teams work in continual contact with each other to support and flex as required to meet patient need, as well as linking closely with the system hub based in Norwich. All necessary equipment including a pool car are provided for the shift. The out of hours team is well established and experienced, with a reputation for it's resilience and compassion. Main responsibilities
To work with other members of the multidisciplinary team to strengthen the emerging Out of Hospital System.
To work autonomously at a level appropriate to clinical competence and within the scope of professional practice.
To develop links between key partners, Out of Hours GP service, care homes, acute trusts and specialist services within and outside of ECCH.
To assist others with the continuous evaluation of the service to ensure it is fit for purpose and increases access and choice
To provide clinical and professional support to the community nursing teams across ECCH localities
KEY RESULT AREAS
Role Specific
Act as a resource for health care professionals on all matters relating to community nursing.
Plan and organise a range of complex activities in a wide range of settings to ensure best practice is delivered across your designated area of responsibility and the wider community.
Work on a rota basis as member of a multidisciplinary team providing access to services on a 24/7 basis
Support the leadership and management of community nursing teams.
Work collaboratively with residential home colleagues to promote high standards of healthcare.
Participate in teaching and clinical supervision of support workers and other provider staff as required
Contribute to the clinical governance agenda through participation in clinical risk assessment and management, clinical audit
Work with colleagues to develop care pathways for patients with a range of healthcare needs
Develop excellent internal and external networks in order to promote the community nursing service.
Undertake continuous professional developments as identified through appraisal and personal development planning
Work with ECCH Colleagues, and other partner agencies and stakeholders including the acute trust to contribute to the development and delivery of new innovative models of service delivery.
Contribute to the review of current policies/protocols/guidelines and the development of clinical pathways and outcomes for this client group.
Critically evaluate research findings, national guidelines and implement changes in clinical practice as appropriate
Create an environment conducive to effective working, respecting and supporting staff to deliver high quality clinical services.
Ensure staff compliance with ECCH risk Management systems, proactively identifying risk within specialist services and ensuring actions to reduce and manage risk.
Ensure a high standard of record keeping is achieved in line with ECCH and professional standards.
Contribute to, support and promote ECCH's, strategic direction, values and culture in relation to community nursing
Make positive contribution to excellent communications across the organisation
Represent the Community nursing service at external bodies as required.
Take responsibility to ensure compliancy with Health and Safety Policy, Fire and Environmental Waste Regulations.
Ensure own compliance with the Nursing and Midwifery Codes of Conduct and Competence and the NHS Managers Code of Conduct.
