CARDIAC REHABILITATION
FITNESS INSTRUCTOR - BAND 5
PART TIME - 14 HRS PER WEEK
FIXED TERM - 6 MTHS
We are looking for a team player, with good communication skills, a professional attitude and a positive interest in cardiac patients to join our team.
You will need to have a valid Phase IV BACPA qualification and be a CIMSPA member; current basic life support certificate a HSE approved First Aid at Work course and a diploma in fitness training and sports therapy or equivalent.
Your main duties will be to organise & lead exercise groups and clinical exercise prescription under the supervision of the Cardiac Rehabilitation team.
You must be able to travel between Trust sites.

Main duties of the job
To support the Specialist Nurse in Cardiac Rehabilitation in the supervision and exercise activity of patients attending Phase 3 Cardiac Rehab Programme.
To record patients pulse, blood pressure and fitness ability before, during and after exercise.
To provide a period of time for relaxation.
To discuss any concerns regarding patients condition with the Specialist Nurse and report any abnormal findings.
To assist with the ordering and maintenance of exercise equipment.
To be responsible for relevant health and safety matter in the areas worked.
To attend relevant updates in Basic Life Support and Fire Protection.
To attend relevant courses to ensure evidence based, effective cardiac rehabilitation programme.
To maintain place on Register of Exercise Professionals alongside BACPR Certificate at level 4.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Previous experience with cardiac patients. Sound underpinning knowledge of anatomy relating to exercise and cardiac conditions. Confidentiality. Good communication and organisational skills. Reliability. Punctuality. Professionalism. Sensitivity / understanding. Car Driver / able to travel across sites if required.
Qualifications Essential
Diploma in Fitness Training and Sports Therapy or equivalent. BACPR Certificate at Level 4. Basic Life Support Certificate - current. Listed on the Exercise Professionals register.
