About this role

Job summary

The Band 6 MSK Physiotherapy Case Manager will act as a clinical coordinator for NHSstaff accessing the pilot service, providing expert assessment, treatment, case management and pathway navigation to facilitate return to work for NHS staff either off work, or struggling to perform their fully assigned job role, due to MSK pain. The post holder will work collaboratively with occupational health services, line managers, HR teams, MSK providers and system partners to support staff wellbeing, reduce the impact of MSK conditions on work, minimise sickness absence and facilitate safe and sustainable return to work.

A key aspect of the role will be supporting the implementation, monitoring andevaluation of the pilot programme, collecting outcome measures and identifying opportunities for future service development across the ICS.

Main duties of the job

o Independently manage a caseload of NHS staff patients who are either off workor struggling to perform their fully assigned job role due to MSK pain withmusculoskeletal conditionso Perform advanced assessments, clinical reasoning, diagnosis, treatment and return to work planning.o Identify red flags, psychosocial factors, and clinical and non-clinical obstacles to recovery.o Provide evidence based written reports to managers/HR, relating to return-to-work guidanceo Escalating cases to HR where you identify the MSK condition is not the main obstacle preventing return to worko Support return-to-work and rehabilitation planning using a biopsychosocial approacho Promote the value of work in relation to health and encouraging a proactiveapproach when advising on the management of health in the workplace.o Maintain accurate clinical documentation and outcome measures.o Contribute to audits, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.o Work flexibly across the Trust sites as required to deliver services, eitherconducting face to face or telephone/remote consultations. This may involvetravelling and working on different sites across the Trust during the working week.o Understand HR policy relating to return to work for employees absent due toMSK conditions

Knowledge Essential

Demonstrate understanding of the link between health and work, the health and non-health factors that can impact on workplace absence and current clinical guidelines in MSK occupational health

Experience Essential

Previous MSK experience Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team Case Conferences / Multi-Disciplinary Team discussions

Desirable

Experience of working in an occupational clinical role supporting people to return to work
