Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Specialist Nurse to join our Adult Mental Health Community team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated RMN with substantial experience in supporting adults with complex mental health, behavioural and social needs.
As a Clinical Specialist Nurse, you will be a visible source of clinical expertise and leadership within our community pathway. You will champion evidence-based practice, strengthen formulation-led care planning, and support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred interventions that promote safety, autonomy and recovery.
We are entering an exciting phase of service development as we begin to shape our neighbourhood model and enhance the way we deliver community mental health care. This early work is collaborative, paced and rooted in the strengths of our existing teams. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a key role in this journey.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, PCNs, VCSE partners, service users and families, you will help shape consistent, trauma-informed community care. The role includes contributing to neighbourhood MDTs, supporting clinical decision-making, and modelling compassionate, relational practice across the service.
Main duties of the job
As the Clinical Specialist Nurse, you will provide visible clinical and professional leadership within Adult Mental Health Community services, supporting high standards of evidence-based nursing and safe, person-centred care. You will act as an expert resource for nursing and multidisciplinary colleagues, offering advanced clinical advice, supervision and support across neighbourhood teams.
You will deliver specialist assessment, formulation and intervention for adults with complex mental health and behavioural needs. This includes nurse-led assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning, leading on care planning and risk assessment, and supporting colleagues in managing complex presentations and crisis situations.
You will promote high standards in safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act, the Mental Health Act and least-restrictive practice. The role includes providing consultation, education and guidance to staff, carers and partner organisations, and supporting effective communication and collaborative working across MDTs, primary care, social care and VCSE partners.
You will contribute to quality improvement, audit, research and service development, helping embed consistent, evidence-based practice and strengthen the neighbourhood model. You will support care transitions and discharge planning, provide clinical supervision and mentorship to nursing staff and students, and contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies, pathways and standards of care.

You will provide clinical supervision, mentorship and professional leadership to nursing staff and students, supporting their development and ensuring high standards of practice. The postholder will also contribute to effective care transitions and discharge planning, working closely with community teams and partner agencies to promote continuity of care.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RNMH / RNLD/ (RNSC - CAMHS Only) Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor Trained in Clinical Supervision and be providing Clinical Supervision And have - Professional clinical knowledge and experience acquired through degree (or equivalent post registration study), supplemented by specialist training, experience, short courses, Module (20 credit) at level 7. For example Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters Degree, Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Postgraduate diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber), Psychosocial Interventions, And have - Equivalent significant clinical experience such as working (minimum of 2 years) as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area, together with evidence of relevant CPD to Level 7 or equivalent
