Job summary

This post is fixed term/secondment for 6 months to cover long term sickness.

We are seeking a GDC Registered Dental Nurse to join our Maxillofacial Department

The successful candidate will be based within a busy Maxillofacial Service working across two District General Hospital sites. This role requires an adaptable and motivated individual who is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the clinical team in a fast-paced environment.

The post holder will undertake a range of assigned duties involving both direct and indirect patient care, working in accordance with agreed protocols, policies and procedures. They will support clinicians during patient consultations and procedures, ensure clinical environments are prepared and maintained to the required standards, and contribute to the efficient running of the service.

Main duties of the job

Provide high quality dental nurse care across a broad range of specialities. Participate in delivery of evidence based care and to ensure consistency and continuity in the quality of care. To provide a safe, welcoming and compassionate environment for patients and relatives. Deliver pre and post treatment instructions to patients and relatives/carers. Assist dental practitioners in undertaking four handed dentistry. To support the Senior Dental Nurse in the supervision of learners and newly appointed dental nurses. This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to communicate in Welsh during routine clinical situations, such as welcoming patients, discussing straightforward aspects of their care and answering routine questions. Person Specification

Qualifications/Knowledge Essential

Registered Dental Nurse Evidence of continuous professional development.

Desirable

Certificate in Oral Health Education or willing to undertake. ILS

Experience Essential

Experience of working within the field of Restorative Dentistry and Orthodontics

Desirable

Experience of working within the fields of Oral Surgery.

Skills Essential

Effective communication both verbal and written Ability to prioritise work efficiently Ability to work in a demanding environment and adapt to change in working practices to meet the needs of the service Ability to work within a team.

Desirable

Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above

Aptitude Essential

Enthusiastic. Good interpersonal skills Flexibility to meet service needs. Amenable to change as required. Ability to travel to all UHB sites.
