Process Engineer - Stamping Department: Operations / Manufacturing Engineering Reports To: Process Engineering Manager / Plant Manager Location : Chivasso (TO) Italy Languages : Fluent Italian & English Mission To ensure the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of cold stamping processes for automotive components, achieving safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets. To support the industrialization of new products and enhance manufacturing performance through process analysis and the implementation of innovative technical solutions. Key Duties and Responsibilities Define, develop, and optimize stamping processes for metal components used in the automotive industry. Support the industrialization of new products and the introduction of new equipment and tooling. Collaborate with Production, Quality, Tooling, and Maintenance departments to ensure process stability and manufacturing efficiency. Analyze production performance and identify improvement actions related to efficiency, scrap reduction, machine downtime, and manufacturing costs. Define and update process parameters, operating standards, and work instructions. Participate in APQP activities and develop PFMEA, Process Flow Charts, and Control Plans for new projects. Manage production trials, feasibility studies, and process validations. Support structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, and PDCA. Monitor and improve process performance indicators (OEE, scrap rate, productivity, cycle time). Support the definition of technical specifications for new presses, automation systems, and production equipment. Ensure process compliance with automotive standards and customer requirements. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives based on Lean Manufacturing principles. Provide technical support and training to operators and production teams. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental regulations in all process-related activities. Collaborate with external suppliers in the development and modification of stamping dies and manufacturing equipment. Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent disciplines. A Master's Degree or specialization in Manufacturing Engineering will be considered a plus. Technical High School Diploma (Industrial/Mechanical Technician) is desirable. Professional Experience From 3 to 5 years of experience as a Process Engineer within manufacturing companies involved in industrial stamping of automotive components. Previous experience in the automotive industry, particularly in cold sheet metal stamping processes, is strongly preferred. Proven experience in the forming and manufacturing of automotive heat shield components will be considered a significant advantage. Technical Skills Knowledge of progressive die and transfer stamping processes. Understanding of sheet metal forming technologies and stamping dies. Ability to analyze and optimize process parameters. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies. Proficiency in structured problem-solving tools and methodologies (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, SPC). Knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements and Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA). Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Familiarity with automated manufacturing processes and production monitoring systems. Language Skills Good command of written and spoken English & Italian. IT Skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent). Data analysis and reporting capabilities. Ability to prepare technical documentation and presentations.
