Why this job matters Supports and/or lease finance process across the Americas, ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting in line with BT accounting policies and Group requirements. Ensures robust governance over journal postings, balance sheet reconciliations and financial close activities, maintaining a strong control environment and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements. Acts as a steward of BT Global's financial control framework within the region, proactively identifying, mitigating and escalating financial reporting, compliance and control risks. Drives consistency, standardization and continuous improvement across Americas finance processes, partnering with Country Finance teams, GBS/GFSS, Group Finance and external auditors to deliver efficient and effective RTR operations. What you’ll be doing Supports the delivery of month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities in accordance with Group reporting timetables and accounting policies, ensuring financial information is complete, accurate and submitted on time. Reviews and analyses financial results, identifying unusual transactions, variances, accounting issues and control risks, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented. Supports the governance of journal postings, including review of supporting documentation, approval compliance, accounting treatment and adherence to BT financial policies. Partners with Country Finance, Shared Service Centres and external auditors to support statutory reporting requirements, financial audits and resolution of accounting matters. Supports the identification and management of risk through regular assessment and diligent execution of controls and mitigations, raising any concerns as appropriate. Supports implementation of process improvements within area of responsibility, driving standardisation, simplification and automation opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting quality and control effectiveness. Maintains current knowledge of accounting standards, BT financial policies and reporting requirements, sharing insights and best practices with team members and stakeholders. Supports broader Finance activities across the Americas region, providing financial control, reporting and RTR expertise as required. Skills required for the job Essential skills & Experience: Strong background in Financial Control, Record-to-Report (RTR), General Ledger accounting and financial reporting. Qualified accountant with strong technical accounting knowledge and experience operating within a controlled financial environment. Experience of journal governance, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close processes and internal control frameworks. Strong understanding of IFRS, accounting policies and statutory reporting requirements. Ability to identify financial reporting risks, control weaknesses and process improvement opportunities. Deep knowledge of financial systems, preferably GFP/Oracle and SAP Soft Skills: Leadership High level of precision and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and accounting records Strong analytical capability and ability to interpret complex financial data and accounting issues. Effective management of multiple deadlines, strong planning and prioritisation capabilities, works effectively with cross-functional teams. Experience you would be expected to have Financial Control, RTR and Reporting Experience. Experience working in a complex, matrix, commercial and international organisation. Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and accounting compliance requirements. Managing month-end close, reporting and balance sheet control processes. Working with Shared Service Centres, external auditors and finance stakeholders across multiple geographies. Driving finance process improvements, standardisation and control enhancements.
