About this role
Job summary This is a new Band 6 Electrical Support Officer post within the Capital Estates team, supporting the delivery of electrical engineering functions across University Hospitals Dorset. The post holder will provide technical support for maintenance, small works, electrical audits, low voltage authorised person duties, contractor control, and the review of specifications and drawings for minor capital projects. The role will also support electrical safety, statutory compliance and the safe operation of the Trust's electrical infrastructure. Working across Trust sites, the post holder will liaise with Capital Estates, Strategy and Transformation, Operational Maintenance, contractors and clinical users to support the safe planning and delivery of works. They will provide technical advice, review documentation such as drawings, specifications, risk assessments and method statements, and undertake checks and surveys linked to electrical systems and capital minor works. The post does not include direct line management responsibility, but will provide technical support to project managers and wider teams as required. Interview date: 18th September 2026

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Degree in health planning, estates, project management, analytics, or related field Experience of working in the Construction or Healthcare Building services industry including site supervision of contractors
Desirable
Previous experience in NHS IOSH or similar H&S training
Knowledge Essential
Thorough knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and statutory policies & procedures relevant to managing relevant to the management of public buildings, construction & building maintenance
Desirable
Understanding of healthcare planning, service change, estates planning or capital development processes. Awareness of NHS planning requirements, including the need to align space, activity, workforce, finance and operational requirements. Understanding of governance, risk, quality and safe working practices relevant to healthcare planning and estates project

Able to build effective working relationships with colleagues, clinical teams, corporate teams and external stakeholders. Works well independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Qualifications Essential
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience in health planning, estates, project management, analytics, service planning or a related field.
Technical Skills Competencies Essential
Able to analyse and interpret information, data and service requirements accurately. Able to produce clear written reports, briefing notes, schedules, presentations and planning documentation. Good communication skills with the ability to deal with staff at all levels of the organisation. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Able to organise workload, manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
