Job summary Join our welcoming and supportive Theatre team at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and play a vital role in delivering safe, effective surgical care. As a Theatre Equipment Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating specialist surgical equipment, loan kits, implants and consumables, ensuring everything is available and ready for patients' procedures. Working closely with theatre teams, surgeons, procurement, sterile services and external suppliers, you will help prevent delays, reduce cancellations and support efficient theatre utilisation. Main duties of the job Coordinate and manage surgical loan kits, specialist equipment, implants and consumables to ensure they are available, traceable and ready for use in planned procedures. Work closely with theatre teams, Procurement, Sterile Services and external suppliers to support efficient theatre scheduling and minimise delays and cancellations. Monitor and maintain accurate records using Trust systems, ensuring compliance with traceability, decontamination and governance requirements. Identify and escalate risks relating to unavailable, delayed, incomplete or damaged equipment, taking action to reduce impact on patient safety and theatre activity. Coordinate the delivery, storage, tracking and return of loan equipment and instrument sets, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate. Produce reports, maintain audit trails and contribute to service improvement initiatives that enhance theatre efficiency, patient experience and value for money.

Education and Qualifications Essential
GCSE A-C or equivalent including Math's and English or Level 2 functional skills in Math's and English. NVQ Level 4 or equivalent. Educated to diploma level or equivalent relevant knowledge and experience, with evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to theatre operations, procurement, sterile services, stock control or healthcare equipment coordination
Experience Essential
Previous Experience working in an Operating Theatre. Previous experience working with or in a procurement team within an NHS Trust. Demonstrable experience of loan kit pathways, decontamination processes, supplier liaison, traceability requirements and patient safety escalation processes. Experience managing medical devices. Experience supporting audit, monitoring performance, producing reports, identifying trends and contributing to service improvement actions within a theatre, procurement, sterile services or healthcare equipment environment.
Desirable
Experience managing stock and implants Experience liaising with clinical teams and suppliers. Experience coordinating surgical loan kits or specialist implants.
Skills and Abilities Essential
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Problem solving skills. Ability to work under instruction, show initiative by proritising workload and be adaptable. Ability to use judgement and initiative to resolve complex operational problems, including conflicting theatre demands, incomplete loan sets, delayed deliveries, missing documentation, supplier queries, decontamination delays and financial discrepancies. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Strong Organisational skills. Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook, with the ability to use them in a busy work environment. Ability to maintain accurate records, produce reports, monitor performance, information, and support audits, financial reconciliation and service quality improvement.
Desirable
Have experience using electronic patient recording systems and/or scan for safety. Have experience using a system that tracks and monitors theatre instruments.
Knowledge and understanding Essential
Understanding of confidentially issues. Understanding of the Trust values. Theatre pathways, equipment tracking, and decontamination. Knowledge of NHS procurement processes, infection prevention principles, medical device and equipment traceability, information governance and financial controls relevant to specialist equipment, consumables and loan kit management.
Desirable
Have basic understanding about the delivery of healthcare in the UK and the healthcare needs of patients in a multiracial community.
