About this role
Supervise laboratory activities including scheduling of personnel and equipment, tracking performance metrics according to plan, and resolving issues as needed. Provide testing and evaluation of commercial and residential doors, Operators, and other Access devices and integrated door/operator systems. Company travel up to 10% may be required at times.
• Supervise personnel as needed to complete assigned tasks and resolve conflicts as needed. • Create schedule and manage workflow of day-to-day lab activities. • Aligning resources according to project deadlines. • Communicate status of projects, resource conflicts, and schedule risks. • Identify and resolve resource conflicts that pose risk to project schedules. • Track metrics related to performance according to schedule and technical requirements. • Identify, manage and prevent personnel and technical issues. • Create and execute training plans with lab personnel as needed. • Work with the lab manager to evaluate and improve performance of the lab and its personnel. • Perform testing of commercial and residential products. • Prepare and submit test reports and maintain documentation of the assigned tasks. • Perform qualification testing for governing industry standards and third-party agency listings (UL, DASMA, etc). • Maintain test equipment operability, functionality, and housekeeping of work areas. • Fabricate and install mounting fixtures required for test execution. • Practice and enforce safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
• Minimum of associate’s degree from an accredited university, electronics and mechanical experience, trade school graduate or equivalent military experience.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
• A minimum of five years’ experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment in a product testing, verification, or calibration role. Experience working in an ISO certified environment a plus. • Expert knowledge in specification and setup of various test equipment. • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. • Experience working with automated test systems. Software programming experience a plus. • Proven self-starter with analytical and problem-solving ability with willingness to learn new skills and train team members where needed. • Strong focus on working in a team environment or as individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. • Demonstrated leadership skills and organizational ability. • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet applications (Webex, Zoom).
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs. • Must use appropriate PPE (shoes, eye protection) daily.
