Job Description: Merchandiser – Minneapolis, MN
Main Function : Reporting to the Commercial Manager of Mankato Oilseed Processing this position will be responsible for the procurement of oilseeds and the marketing of finished goods to achieve optimal financial results. As a senior member of the trading team you will be expected to build strong internal and external relationships, ensure strong execution by managing risk in both markets and logistics. This position will prioritize customers, resolve accounting and other customer related issues, have a strong understanding of customer requirements and make aggressive outbound calls to deliver and receive timely market information. This position requires a high level of strategic thinking, strong communication skills, attention to detail, developed interpersonal skills along with the desire to learn and develop new trading skills.

Maintain regular contact with accounts • Provide excellent customer service and strive to meet and exceed customer needs finding opportunities to differentiate ourselves from competition • Handle all accounting, logistics and other issues in a timely manner prioritizing customers service • Make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically • Develop a clear understanding of local, national and global markets • Seek out new business to enhance ADM company assets • Understand margin calculations & their effect on commodity pricing • Understand the value of ADM Owned transportation (I.e barges, trucks and railcars) • Develop a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities • Develop a good understanding and working knowledge of ADM IT systems • Understands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies and safety programs • Ensures individual goals are aligned with corporate goals • Develop a good understanding of local plant operations • Prioritizes cooperative and transparent relationships with internal partners • Portrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers & colleagues • Helps in the development & training of new employees • Prepare month end accounting documents and perform other month end reporting requirements with a high level of detail • Is willing to work outside of normal business hours including weekends Qualifications: • BS/BA in Agriculture, Business, or related field of study • 3+ years’ experience in cash commodity trading or related field • Strong computer competency in MS Office, IBM, Agris, ICE Connect and other web based internal applications • Strong work Ethic, positive attitude and professional demeanor required • Desire to develop and initiative to learn other responsibilities • Detail Oriented in a fast-paced environment Before applying for an exempt, non-exempt or hourly job opportunity, you are expected to initiate a discussion and share your intentions with your supervisor. * If you’ve been in your current position for more than 18 months, supervisor approval is not required. * If you’ve been in your current position for less than 18 months, verbal supervisor approval is required. : Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
