About this role

EDI Specialist

Job Description: We are Infosys Romania.

We offer business consulting, technology and engineering solutions and end-to-end transformative business process management services to some of the world’s most iconic brands. As part of a large‑scale global transformation, a world‑leading FMCG company has partnered with Infosys to redesign and elevate its Global Business Services (GBS) to world‑class standards. To support this journey, we are seeking an EDI Specialist who will be responsible for monitoring day-to-day EDI success, troubleshooting operational failures, and managing end-to-end data integration flows across all functional areas (e.g., inbound EDI customer orders, outbound EDI invoicing, dispatch advice, etc.). Operating as a critical bridge, this role connects key stakeholders - including markets, customers, Global Business Services (GBS), and Third-Party Service Providers (3PSPs)—to maintain seamless data interchange. The EDI Specialist is directly responsible for performing root cause analyses (RCA) on failed transmissions, driving system improvements in SAP (IDocs), and ensuring maximum EDI reliability and efficiency across the organization.

Your tasks in detail: • EDI Operational & Day-to-Day Monitoring

• Actively monitor day-to-day EDI message flows and transaction success across all functionalities (e.g., inbound customer orders, outbound invoicing, shipping notices/ASN). • Identify, investigate, and resolve transmission errors, payload issues, or failed electronic data exchanges promptly to avoid business disruptions. • Monitor IDoc processing in SAP, ensuring end-to-end message delivery between SAP S/4HANA, middleware/brokers, and external trading partners. • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Incident Resolution

• Conduct detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for all EDI transaction failures, mapping errors, or structural system issues. • Document findings, design preventive/corrective action plans, and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurring issues. • Maintain an incident repository/log to track recurring trends and provide recommendations for system or process enhancements.

• Stakeholder Management & Coordination

• Serve as the primary operational point of contact for EDI-related matters across diverse internal and external stakeholders, including markets, global commercial teams, customers, GBS, and 3PSPs. • Collaborate with customer-facing teams and technical 3PSPs to onboard new trading partners or update existing EDI specifications. • Facilitate clear, timely communication regarding system downtimes, integration status, and active incident escalations. • System Optimization & SAP IDoc Management

• Analyze SAP IDocs (inbound and outbound) to resolve status errors, trigger re-processing, and optimize data mapping rules. • Collaborate with IT, SAP functional teams, and middleware integration teams to update functional specifications or technical mapping configurations. • Support testing and validation of new EDI messages, mapping schema changes, and system upgrades within the SAP ecosystem. • Continuous Improvement & Reporting

• Prepare regular reports and operational dashboards tracking key EDI performance indicators (e.g., transmission success rates, failure resolution times, volume trends). • Drive process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EDI integration efficiency and eliminate manual interventions. • Promote best practices for data integrity and EDI operations across countries and service partners.

Skills you need to be part of the team: • Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in an EDI Specialist, EDI Integration Analyst, or similar operational data integration role. • Education: University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field. • SAP & Technical Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with SAP ECC or S/4HANA (preferred), specifically in IDoc processing, status monitoring, error handling, and partner profile configurations. • EDI Functional Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of core EDI transaction standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML) and business flows (Orders, Invoices, ASNs, Statuses). • Ecosystem Experience: Prior experience working in a Global Business Services (GBS), Shared Services, or complex multi-market supply chain environment is highly preferred. • Stakeholder Management: Proven track record of successfully coordinating across cross-functional teams, external clients, vendor partners (3PSPs), and commercial markets. • Technical Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical/integration issues into actionable business terms.

Must have competencies • SAP IDoc & EDI Technical Expertise. • Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis (RCA). • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management. • Order-to-Cash (OTC) & Supply Chain Business Flow Understanding. • Process Automation & Continuous Improvement. • Operational Resilience & Adaptability.

Employee perks, benefits: • Long-term and stable cooperation; • Benefit platform; • Organized training sessions during the first weeks and further upskilling courses (online, with our experts); • 22 paid vacation days in the first year plus 2 more paid vacation days starting with the second year; • Modern, cozy and central location in Bucharest; • Teamwork in a multicultural environment; • Medical subscription and life insurance.
