Job Description: Lead the development and execution of an integrated communication security (COMSEC) strategy as a Manager I within BAE Space & Mission Systems, protecting mission‑critical information systems that support national security programs.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You’ll Do: • Responsible for managing and sustaining the full COMSEC and information assurance program for complex systems and missions. • Apply deep expertise with communications security (COMSEC) proficiency to guide teams in safeguarding classified and sensitive data, ensuring proper handling, protection, and lifecycle management of keying material and cryptographic assets. • Drive high‑performance team operations, strengthen collaboration across engineering, security, and program sectors, and ensure consistent delivery of secure, resilient, and compliant solutions aligned with customer and mission requirements. • Oversee incident response and COMSEC policy enforcement. • Employ COMSEC best practices when implementing security controls within an information system, ensuring proper protection of classified and sensitive communications. • Apply security methodologies, system and security principles, and cryptographic requirements to achieve secure techniques that support authorized communication channels and key‑management workflows. • Function as an integral part of the development team by incorporating COMSEC requirements into system, development, and modernization efforts. • Support secure development of new organizational information systems and the upgrade of legacy platforms to ensure proper handling, storage, transmission, and lifecycle management of keying material and encrypted communications. • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. • Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Skills and Education: • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 8 or more years related experience. • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. • A current, active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required. • Solid personal initiative, motivation, and ability to adapt to a high‑demand, rapidly changing security environment. • Customer‑focused with excellent communication skills and capable of working with limited supervision. • Able to interface effectively with industrial security, physical security, program security, ITS personnel, program staff, and government security representatives. • Skilled in auditing and certifying compliance across COMSEC network devices and associated peripherals. • Working knowledge of system functions, security policies, technical safeguards, and operational security measures related to COMSEC. • Able to translate operational requirements and communicate them clearly to stakeholders and program management. • Experienced with periodic and on‑demand system audits and account and access reviews. • Experience preparing incident reports, financial documentation, and COMSEC results. • Excellent organizational skills with experience managing and executing full self‑inspection activities. #LI-JL2
