Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our internationally recognised Neuropsychiatry Service as a Consultant. The post holder will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and individualised treatment or management plans for adults aged 18 and over with a range of neuropsychiatric conditions, with a particular focus on General Neuropsychiatry and Non-Epileptic Attack Disorders.
Working closely with existing consultants and a highly experienced multidisciplinary team, the post holder will provide clinical leadership and support the continued development of specialist care pathways. The wider team includes clinical nurse specialists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and access to high-quality investigative services.
The successful candidate will also play an active role in service development, clinical governance, audit and research. Main duties of the job
Providing clinical leadership and clinical expertise to support the work of multi-disciplinary teams, liaising with other agencies and contributing to the teaching and training of all professionals coming into contact with this patient group in relation to neuropsychiatry across the region.
The role will also include developing risk assessment and management plans in conjunction with the Multidisciplinary team, service user, carers and other involved agencies and facilitate maximum empowerment of the service user and carer in developing informed choice of treatment interventions.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and be willing to undertake training to obtain section 12(2) MHA to undertake Mental Health Act assessments where appropriate.

Scoring Essential
Full GMC registration with a licence to practice Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983) MRCPsych or equivalent Obtained inclusion on the Specialist Register; or within six months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry; or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register Commitment to personal programme of Continuing Professional Development. Experience in neuropsychiatry Substantial experience of psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community setting Experience of providing psychological and/or social interventions Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level Commitment to clinical audit within multi-disciplinary team. Evidence of potential for effective leadership Excellent communication skills Ability to work creatively within multi-disciplinary team Demonstrable interest in the provision of gender sensitive mental health service Willingness to be involved in management of service Able to participate in Video Telemetry on-call rota Able to travel
Desirable
Additional qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or another relevant field Broad clinical training including both inpatient and community service Experience serving a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic population.
