Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse, Patient Emergency Response and Resuscitation Team @ Queen Square (PERRT@QS)
PERRT@QS (formerly known as the Critical Care Outreach Team at NHNN) is affiliated with the Patient Emergency Response and Resuscitation Team (PERRT) within the wider UCLH Trust; it is a multi-disciplinary team of experienced critical care practitioners that assist in the care of patients who are acutely unwell or who are deteriorating.
This is achieved by supporting, educating and working with ward staff and the multidisciplinary team; optimising the quality and appropriateness of critically ill patients' treatment, care and experience. The team also provides a trust-wide resuscitation service providing a clinical response to cardiac arrest calls and deteriorating patients, contributing to the delivery of specialised resuscitation training and risk management to a variety of acute and specialist hospitals sites in the centre of London.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the band 7s and 8a in PERRT@QS, the Deputy Charge Nurse / Sister will assist in the development of the PERRT@QS (and wider PERRT) service and patient safety by:
o Working at an enhanced level / towards an advanced level across the Four Pillars of Advanced Practice.
o Provision of an expert critical care nursing response to deteriorating and at-risk patients outside of Critical Care 24 hour per day, 7 days per week.
o Supporting patients who step down from Critical Care to the wards.
o Supporting of initiatives to improve recognition and response to deteriorating and at-risk patients.
o Assisting in delivering training programmes in emergency response and resuscitation practices to clinical staff of all grades and specialities.
o Responding as a clinical member of the emergency response / resuscitation teams and whilst attending clinical emergency calls across the Trust, providing expertise to the cardiac arrest team to ensure evidenced based practice is provided and where necessary provide leadership to ensure the best patient outcome.
o Ensuring all clinical areas have access to resuscitation equipment (appropriate to area) and consumables across the Trust.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse Relevant post qualification clinical course (critical care) or equivalent Minimum 2 years' experience following post qualification relevant course. Recognised mentorship / teaching course or equivalent A desire to gain instructor status in advanced national courses.
Desirable
Proven Leadership Training e.g. Clinical Leadership Course, NVQ Level 4 and/or minimum 1 year relevant experience in a leadership role or willingness to undertake Leadership course Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS provider - adult Resuscitation Council (UK), ALS provider Have or currently studying for a first degree qualification or equivalent Evidence of involvement in research and / or quality improvement projects.
Experience Essential
Experience in managing deteriorating patients. Experience in managing level 3 patients Experience teaching and responding to learners' individual needs.
