About this role

Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group is seeking an Interim Global Trade Compliance Specialist (Import Focused) for a long-term engagement.

Overview: We are seeking an Interim Global Trade Compliance Specialist to assist with product classifications, sanctions, compliance regulations, and licensing requirements

Company: Leading global company within the industrial manufacturing and engineering space

Experience: 5-7+ years of general trade compliance experience, with a focus on imports

Location: Remote

Responsibilities Include:

• Working in this long-term role, and directly with the company's trade compliance function, responsibilities shall include: • Assume responsibility for supporting the import classifications of products, parts, and technology • Review and audit the process for import classification decisions. • Document import classification rationale and maintain classification records. • Analyze transactions for imports, including changes in tariffs, regulations, and classifications, with proficiency in performing financial impact assessments of these transactions • Monitor and manage the import inbox, responding to import-related requests from internal and external stakeholders. • Provide support to business units when requested on import processes, licensing requirements, and classification best practices. • Familiarity with export classifications in a supporting capacity. • Collaborate with engineering, business units, and other cross-functional teams to gather necessary technical details for trade classifications. • Ability to work cross-functionally with procurement, logistics, business stakeholders, and strong communication skills with Customs Brokers • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Qualifications Include:

• 5-7+ years of experience in export compliance, with a strong focus on export classification and export licensing. • Active Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) credential • Strong proficiency in Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification • Experience with Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification and administration and knowledge of U.S. import regulations and customs compliance requirements • Proficiency in evaluating the impact of changes to tariff regulations • Experience with import operations, customs entry processes, duty optimization programs, and trade compliance activities • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems for managing trade data.

Pay rate: $50-60/hour

Individual compensation offered for this position within the pay range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
