Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob DescriptionThis role supports a specialized team that develops test equipment for motor and battery manufacturing. The lab technician sets up equipment, builds and configures test fixtures, and runs tests on prototype builds in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. The position combines electrical and mechanical work, requiring comfort with tools, schematics, and digital collaboration platforms. Responsibilities • Set up test equipment and fixtures for motor and battery manufacturing applications. • Run tests on prototype builds, following established procedures and safety practices. • Read and interpret electrical schematics to wire tests correctly and verify proper connections. • Assemble, modify, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical test setups. • Use hand tools such as drills and saws to fabricate, adjust, or repair test fixtures and components. • Document test setups, results, and observations using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. • Collaborate with the team via Microsoft Teams to plan tests, share findings, and resolve issues. • Support the development and improvement of automated test equipment and processes. • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the lab area and test equipment. • Identify issues with test equipment, motors, or fixtures and communicate them promptly to the team. Essential Skills • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wire tests correctly. • Proficiency with Microsoft platform tools, including Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. • Confidence and competence using hand tools such as drills, saws, and similar equipment. • Hands-on experience working with mechanical and electrical products, equipment, or technology. • Minimum of an associate’s degree in automation, electrical, or mechanical disciplines, or equivalent military training. • Experience working with test equipment and test fixtures in an electrical or mechanical environment. • Familiarity with motors and their associated test setups. • Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical systems in a lab setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Background in automation, electrical, or mechanical technology from academic or military training. • Experience supporting prototype development and testing activities. • Ability to troubleshoot issues in test setups involving motors, fixtures, and automation components. • Strong attention to detail when wiring, assembling, and documenting test configurations. • Effective communication skills for collaborating within a small, specialized team. • Interest in working with emerging technologies in motor and battery manufacturing. Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a brand-new, state-of-the-art test lab dedicated to motor and battery manufacturing technologies. You will work as part of a small, collaborative team focused on exciting prototype projects and advanced test equipment development. The environment is hands-on and technology-driven, with frequent use of test equipment, motors, and test fixtures, as well as Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft Office tools for communication and documentation. Lab work involves regular use of hand tools such as drills and saws and requires adherence to standard lab safety practices. The setting emphasizes innovation, continuous learning, and close teamwork in a modern, well-equipped facility. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
