About this role

FRN seeks to hire an assistant to support FRN’s free surplus produce distributions at Title I schools and other community partner sites. Distributions will be held monthly at Lakeland Elementary and other sites across Baltimore City. This part-time position is expected to require 3-9 hours per month. Shift lengths will vary, depending on the produce distribution schedule each month. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, quick paced, and familiar with the school communities FRN serves.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-of produce distribution operations and serve as primary point of contact for program partners on the day of the distributions

• Set up distributions including but not limited to coordinating, moving or accepting produce; physically moving produce to designated distribution areas; decorating signs/tables; and preparing pre-made bags

• During the distributions, restock produce and help serve students and families while they shop, as needed

• Complete distribution teardown including breaking down and recycling boxes, packing up supplies, and boxing up surplus produce

• Provide recommendations to FRN as needed to best serve the community

• Provide FRN staff with an update after each distribution, including:

• Number of families served

• Number of boxes/bags of produce leftover

• Supply count

Candidate Requirements

• The ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis and stand for 3-4 hours at a time

• Familiarity with Food Recovery Network’s elementary school produce program

• Ability to communicate in English and Spanish is a plus

• Possess a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is a plus

Compensation

Compensation is $25.94 per hour. This is a fixed-term position ending on June 15, 2027 with potential for renewal.
