About the Education Collaborative
The Education Collaborative spearheads a model of collective engagement that promises to significantly reshape higher education outcomes for students. This transformative scale initiative adopts a network approach that fosters trust and collective commitments among higher education leaders and stakeholders to generate sustainable results within the systems they govern and influence. By 2030, The Education Collaborative aims to build a 140-member network that serves at least one million students, educating ethical, entrepreneurial leaders capable of creating jobs, advancing industries, and driving economic growth across Africa. Our focal areas reflect the pressing developmental needs and trends in higher education in Africa. Currently covering trending needs in entrepreneurship and employability development, ethics and leadership, and faculty development and research.

Duration: 1-year contract, renewable
Role Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Communications Officer to support storytelling, digital engagement, and communications delivery across The Education Collaborative. Working across multiple communication functions, this role ensures that content, platforms, and engagements are executed with clarity, consistency, and quality. It is suited for an early-career professional who is organized, responsive, and eager to build experience in communications within a pan-African context.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the development and delivery of content across platforms, including articles, newsletters, social media, and reports, towards effective and timely communications
• Document and amplify institutional impact through interviews, stories, and multimedia content
• Manage and update communication channels, including the website, newsletters, and WhatsApp Channel
• Coordinate and maintain the communications calendar, ensuring timely execution of outputs
• Conduct basic research to support the development of communication materials (briefs, presentations, reports)
• Provide communications and logistical support for events, webinars, and campaigns
• Track media coverage and engagement metrics, contributing to monthly performance reports
• Support coordination with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely delivery of outputs
• Contribute to additional communications tasks as required to support team priorities
Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
• Familiarity with digital communications platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, newsletters, CMS tools).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Basic design and multimedia skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) are an advantage.
• High attention to detail, creative and willing to learn.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multicultural, fast-paced environment.
