About this role

Sr. Product Engineer - Adventurer Campers

Reports to: CEO

Function: Design/Product Engineering

Scope: Production Line #1

Role Purpose

Serve as the technical owner for the Adventurer truck camper portfolio across retail and rental applications. Balance NPD with disciplined lifecycle and sustaining engineering for an established product family.

What You Own

• Technical product ownership for Adventurer truck campers.

• Product lifecycle, NPD, architecture, compliance, and major technical decisions.

• Product improvement roadmap covering quality, cost, weight, manufacturability, serviceability, and customer experience.

• Engineering release, change approval, validation requirements, and technical BOM integrity.

• Own ERP and CAD model readiness for product release, ensuring engineering models, drawings, BOMs, part data, revisions, and released configurations are complete, synchronized, and production-ready.

• Technical resolution of product-level production, supplier, field, and warranty issues.

• Leadership and development of the Adventurer Design Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead new products, derivatives, model-year changes, and major product improvements.

• Remain hands-on in CAD/modeling, prototype development, design reviews, and production problem solving.

• Manage technical priorities across sustaining engineering and NPD.

• Own requirements and technical integration across structures, interiors, plumbing, HVAC, electrical interfaces, and installed systems.

• Drive root-cause technical solutions to recurring quality and warranty issues.

• Ensure changes are appropriately validated and released into Production Line 1.

Cross-Functional Responsibilities

• Operations and Manufacturing Engineering on DFM, process readiness, line launch, cost, and production issues.

• Quality on validation plans, NPD quality gates, root cause, corrective actions, and field/warranty learning.

• Supply Chain on supplier technical requirements, component selection, alternates, and technical issue resolution.

• Service, Sales, and Marketing on field feedback, customer requirements, product changes, and launch readiness.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, product design engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent directly relevant experience considered.

• Typically 7+ years of progressive product engineering experience, including ownership of complex physical products through development and sustaining phases.

• Strong 3D CAD, drawing, GD&T, BOM, configuration/change-control, prototype, and production-support capability.

• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical work without relying on a large program-management organization.

• Hands-on problem solver comfortable moving between CAD, prototypes, suppliers, testing, and the production floor.

• Experience with RVs, truck campers, vehicle accessories, specialty vehicles, or high-mix durable goods preferred.

What Success Looks Like

• Adventurer has a clear technical owner and prioritized product roadmap.

• NPD progresses without losing control of sustaining engineering.

• Recurring production and warranty issues decline through durable engineering solutions.

• ERP product data, CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and released configurations are aligned and ready before production release.

• Changes improve product quality and manufacturability without unnecessary complexity.

• Engineering release and product configuration remain accurate and controlled.
