Are you experienced in insurance and confident building relationships with customers? We’re looking for a Motor Trade Renewal Handler to join our team in Edinburgh, managing a portfolio of existing clients and helping deliver positive outcomes throughout the insurance renewal journey.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in insurance broking, underwriting, renewals or a customer focused insurance environment who enjoys speaking with customers, building relationships and finding the right solutions.
The Role
As a Motor Trade Renewal Handler, you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of motor trade insurance renewals from initial invitation through to completion.
You’ll proactively engage with customers ahead of their renewal dates, understand any changes in their circumstances and insurance requirements, and work with insurers where necessary to secure appropriate renewal terms.
Customer retention will be a key focus. You’ll build strong relationships with clients, identify potential barriers to renewal and provide a professional and consultative service that delivers positive outcomes for both the customer and the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
Managing a portfolio of motor trade insurance renewals from invitation through to completionProactively contacting customers to discuss renewal terms, changing circumstances and insurance requirementsBuilding strong relationships with clients and delivering excellent customer serviceIdentifying potential barriers to renewal and using appropriate retention strategiesNegotiating renewal terms with insurers where requiredProcessing renewals accurately and ensuring documentation is issued promptlyMaintaining regular contact with customers to secure renewal decisions and minimise policy lapsesClearly explaining policy coverage, exclusions, endorsements and termsIdentifying opportunities to introduce additional products and services where appropriateHandling customer enquiries and complaints professionally and efficientlySupporting vulnerable customers in line with company and regulatory requirementsContributing towards team retention, income and productivity targetsMaintaining accurate and complete records of customer interactions and policy changesEnsuring activity meets FCA, Consumer Duty, TCF, GDPR and company requirements What We’re Looking For
Experience within insurance broking, underwriting or a customer service environmentPrevious experience handling personal lines, commercial or motor trade insurance renewals would be advantageousExperience working towards customer service, retention or sales targetsConfident communicating with customers over the telephone and by emailExcellent customer service and relationship-building skillsAbility to influence and retain customers through professional, consultative conversationsStrong organisational and time management skillsExcellent attention to detail and accuracyCommercial awareness and a customer-focused approachAbility to manage and prioritise your own workloadStrong written and verbal communication skillsComfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and OutlookAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a team A Cert CII qualification would be advantageous, although we're also interested in candidates who are willing to work towards professional insurance qualifications and continue developing their industry knowledge.
