Job Description: The Secretary/Accountant for Transportation and Services works cooperatively with the Director of Transportation and the Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services to ensure that matters related to the school transportation system and other activities assigned to the Secretary/Accountant are addressed in an efficient and effective manner. Qualifications: Holds a high school diploma or GED. Holds “Secretary” and “Accountant” classifications. Has knowledge and skills necessary to operate a personal computer. Length of Employment: 261 Days Responsibilities: The Secretary/Accountant for Transportation and Services shall have the following responsibilities and duties:

• To type all letters, reports and memoranda in assigned areas of responsibility.

• To properly file all correspondence and other relevant information in assigned areas of responsibility.

• To submit all required federal and state reports in a timely fashion.

• To monitor the certification and licensing of all bus operators.

• To coordinate the drug testing of bus operators in accordance with federal law.

• To coordinate the yearly physical of bus operators.

• To continually dispatch and monitor the county FM-2 Way radios for school buses, schools, Putnam County Emergency Services and West Virginia State Police.

• To assign and monitor extra-duty trips, as necessary.

• To assist in the monitoring of fuel consumption, as assigned.

• To assist in the management of employee time sheets, as assigned.

• To assist in the operation and management of the Maintenance Department, as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services.

• To properly use office equipment in assigned areas of responsibility.

• To receive and relay telephone messages for the Director of Transportation

• To assist with the switchboard as assigned.

• To perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation and/or Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services.

Daily Schedule: Currently – 7:30 am - 3:30 pm Effective Employment Date: September 9, 2026 Application Deadline: 4:00 pm on the closing date.
