JDE: 6.04.AA Vocal Music Consultation Position Summary The Vocal Music Consultant will work collaboratively with the musical director, cast, and production team to prepare and enhance vocal performances for the Spring School Musical. The consultant will provide expert guidance on vocal techniques, harmonization, and repertoire preparation to ensure the success of the production. Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Music, Vocal Performance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Proven experience in vocal coaching or music direction, preferably in theater or school productions.
• Previous musical experience, preferred
• Previous teaching experience, preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Essential Functions
• Assist Director and Assistant Director in auditions and casting decisions; determine audition music recall material.
• Conduct rehearsals to teach cast members songs and practice.
• Meet individually with students/small groups as needed to coach and practice solos and other musical features.
• Coordinate orchestra backing tracks or live band; conduct performances
• Attend all scheduled rehearsals, as well as tech week rehearsals, to offer guidance on vocal performance and ensure alignment with the production's artistic vision.
• Assist in teaching and reinforcing musical pieces, including harmonies, dynamics, and diction.
• Provide tips and strategies for maintaining vocal health throughout the rehearsal and performance period.

• Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
• Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Working Environment Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress.
