Job Grade 107, Behavior Specialist, (elementary level) Job Duties:
• Maintains a cooperative relationship with fellow staff members, students, and the general public.
• Adheres to and enforces district, state, and federal laws, policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Assists the instructor to prepare for classroom activities, including materials collection, distribution and maintenance, equipment set-up, etc.
• Helps assigned students, under the direction of a certified instructor and using previously prepared materials, to learn subject material.
• Aids instructor(s) with non-instructional classroom activities; assists individual children in need of special attention.
• Supervises the administration of prepared tests; may grade examinations and classroom or written work and record grades.
• Types material for classroom or program use
• Maintains information on assigned students, including attendance, instructional data, grades, etc.
• Supervises and maintains student discipline, under direction of certified employee.
• Uses special teaching techniques related to student's learning difficulty
• Completes other duties as assigned by the principal or teacher.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT
• Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for working with special students.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, tact, and diplomacy
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board deems appropriate
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• High School diploma or equivalent
• (1) Associate's or higher degree, or (2) Completion at least 48 semester or 72 quarter hours of college coursework; or (3) Meet a rigorous standard of quality, and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, as appropriate, reading/language arts, writing and mathematics or reading readiness, writing readiness and mathematics readiness.
