Lake County School District is looking for a Part-Time Transportation Coordinator to join our leadership team and ensure safe, reliable, and caring transportation services for our students. Salary Grade: $30.00-$35.00/hour depending upon experience and qualifications. Great work calendar, which roughly follows the LCSD Calendar. FLSA: Non-Exempt Work Year: Approximately 2-3 hours per day, max 180 days during work week; work time may be flexible to accommodate bus route driving times. Position for 2026-2027 school year; renewal will be evaluated in spring. Reports To: Transportation Director Key Responsibilities Transportation Leadership

• Collaborate with the Transportation Director to provide computer, operational and office support to the LCSD Transportation program.

• Schedule drivers on daily bus routes, field trips, and athletic/activity trips, ensuring sub driver coverage and efficiency.

• Advertise and assign drivers to field trips and athletic/activity trips following the AFSCME agreement process. Gather trip details as necessary and communicate trip assignments to drivers.

• Work closely with the Athletic Director and school leaders to respond to trip requests.

• Prepare and send daily transportation email to district leaders and schools no later than 3pm M-Th for the following school day.

• Ensure student transportation information is up to date in PowerSchool.

• Ensure published routes and bus stop times are kept up to date and distributed to schools.

• Complete annual CDE 40 data entry tasks.

• Efficiently download, store, and review bus video footage as needed to investigate student incidents (not staff). Provide video to the Transportation Director for incident follow up.

• Complete and submit Purchase Orders and other financial documents at the direction of the Transportation Director.

• Available to respond to messages M-F to address urgent scheduling needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• 2–3 years of experience in transportation, supervision, or school district operations preferred.

• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

• Ability to build positive relationships with drivers, staff, students, and families.

• Working knowledge of bus operations, safety standards, and scheduling systems

• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel for tracking vehicle mileage and Outlook for email communication and calendar management

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Bilingual in Spanish preference, though not required.

• Moderate noise and exposure to weather when working around buses.

• Role requires flexibility and the ability to respond to emergencies.
