Job Title: RISE Academy Teacher Department: Instruction Reports To: Principal Compensation Range: Per Pupil Pay (Minimum $50,000 annually) Classification: Classified Summary: RISE Academy is a specialized high school program within Epic Charter Schools designed to support students who benefit from increased structure, accountability, individualized planning, and coordinated academic support. RISE — Ready, Inspire, Support, Empower — reflects the program's commitment to helping students reconnect with their education, receive individualized support, and develop the skills and confidence necessary to make meaningful progress toward graduation and their goals beyond high school. The RISE Academy Teacher serves as the primary teacher, advocate, and point of contact for an assigned caseload of approximately 30–33 students. Teachers develop strong relationships with students and families while monitoring student attendance, engagement, academic progress, credit accumulation, and progress toward graduation. RISE Academy Teachers use student data to identify barriers to success, develop and implement individualized interventions, and coordinate appropriate academic and student supports. Epic provides a non-traditional educational environment utilizing Internet-based, individualized instruction. RISE Academy operates primarily in a virtual setting and combines individualized asynchronous coursework with scheduled Live Class instruction, targeted academic support, regular student meetings, and proactive teacher outreach. RISE Academy Teachers work collaboratively as a team so students may receive instruction and support from multiple RISE teachers based upon individual student needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Maintain primary responsibility for an assigned caseload of RISE Academy students and serve as the primary school contact for students and their families.
• Develop positive, productive relationships with students and families that promote student engagement, accountability, persistence, and progress toward graduation.
• Meet regularly with assigned students to review academic progress, attendance, engagement, goals, barriers, and needed supports.
• Maintain consistent and proactive communication with students and parents/guardians through approved communication methods, including virtual meetings, phone, email, and other school-approved platforms.
• Include parents/guardians as active partners in student communication, planning, intervention, and progress monitoring consistent with Epic policies and applicable adult-student communication requirements.
• Monitor student attendance, engagement, course activity, academic performance, credit accumulation, and progress toward graduation using available student data and school systems.
• Regularly analyze student data to identify patterns, areas of concern, and opportunities for intervention or additional support.
• Identify students who are not demonstrating expected progress and initiate timely, individualized interventions designed to improve engagement and academic outcomes.
• Proactively identify and respond to patterns of student disengagement or chronic absenteeism through outreach, barrier identification, intervention planning, family partnership, and coordination with appropriate school supports.
• Identify academic, engagement, scheduling, technology, social-emotional, or other barriers affecting student progress and connect students and families with appropriate Epic personnel and resources.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and adjust individualized strategies and interventions based upon student needs, progress, goals, and response to previous supports.
• Develop and maintain Personalized Learning Plans and other required student planning documentation, including measurable goals designed to support continuous student improvement.
• Monitor student credit accumulation and progress toward graduation and help students understand the relationship between current academic progress and individualized graduation goals.
• Support students in developing academic goal-setting, self-advocacy, time-management, organization, persistence, and other skills necessary for academic success.
• Help students and families understand available instructional and graduation options so they can make informed decisions aligned with the student's needs, goals, and postsecondary plans.
• Collaborate with Graduation Support Services (GSS) and other appropriate departments regarding student scheduling, graduation requirements, Credit Recovery eligibility, course placement, and graduation pathway considerations.
• Provide scheduled Live Class instruction and targeted academic support as assigned, utilizing effective virtual instructional practices and appropriate differentiation to support student learning.
• Work with RISE Academy students within the teacher's certification area and collaborate with other RISE teachers to connect students with appropriate subject-area instruction and academic support.
• Adapt instruction, academic supports, and intervention strategies based upon individual student needs and available student performance data.
• Assist students and families with understanding and effectively utilizing online curriculum, supplemental resources, school technology, and other instructional tools.
• Identify opportunities for additional tutoring, targeted Live Class participation, or other academic supports when student data indicates additional assistance is needed.
• Collaborate with RISE Academy teachers to coordinate student supports and ensure students receive appropriate academic assistance across subject areas.
• Review student coursework and progress regularly to identify academic needs, misconceptions, missing work, pacing concerns, or other barriers to successful course completion.
• Maintain accurate student records and required documentation, including student contacts, interventions, academic progress, attendance concerns, significant student/family conversations, and other required school records.
• Perform administrative responsibilities related to caseload management, including monitoring student schedules, course progress, meetings, grades, documentation, and required student records.
• Communicate professionally with students and families regarding academic progress, attendance, engagement, expectations, concerns, and available supports.
• Serve as a liaison between students/families and Epic Charter Schools and assist families in understanding relevant school policies, procedures, programs, and resources.
• Work collaboratively with College and Career Readiness, Graduation Support Services, Student Support Counselors, Special Education, English Learner services, social-emotional learning personnel, and other school departments as appropriate to support student success.
• Participate in collaborative problem-solving with RISE Academy leadership and team members when students require additional or different supports.
• Use student-level and program-level data to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional practices, interventions, and student support strategies.
• Adjust strategies and practices when student data indicates that existing supports are not producing the desired progress.
• Use technology effectively as an everyday tool for instruction, communication, collaboration, student monitoring, documentation, and data analysis.
• Stay current with relevant research, instructional practices, educational technology, and strategies for supporting high school students experiencing academic or engagement challenges.
• Participate in required professional development, team meetings, PLCs, collaborative planning, and other school activities.
• Engage in regularly scheduled meetings with the supervisor and RISE Academy team to collaborate, review student and program data, share updates, and address priorities.
• Maintain professional confidentiality and comply with FERPA and all applicable Epic Charter Schools policies and procedures.
• Report suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law and school policy.

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field required.
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers, both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information to students, families, and supervisors. Mathematical Skills Appropriate MS/HS Math skills if applying for a math position. Otherwise, basic math skills are required. Reasoning Ability Ability to de?ne problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Google suite, Microsoft Excel, Word,and PowerPoint.
