Reports To: Principal of Assigned School Duty Days: 187 Days Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: IS03 Qualifications: Fluent in both oral and written English and Spanish High school diploma or GED required College hours preferred Ability to work with students and teachers Ability to manage a flexible schedule School office experience or volunteer experience preferred Strong organizational skills Ability to work within deadlines Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed Primary Purpose: Work with ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher(s) to instruct ESL students and to implement federal, state and local policies in regards to ESL students. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist ESL and content teachers in the classroom as needed.
• Provide tutorial assistance to ESL students as needed.
• Administer oral and written tests to English learners as needed, including serving on a rotational basis at the EL (English Learner) Testing Center.
• Check and update ESL student cumulative folders for accurate documentation.
• Maintain the confidentiality of students and administration.
• Assist ESL teachers to complete and organize the legal/mandated documentation for student placement.
• Input English learner PEIMS data upon principal and/or ESL teacher request.
• Other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used: Personal computer, copier, printer and fax machine Working Conditions: Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
