Title: Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Associate Teacher Status: Full Time position "in person". Department: Early CHildhood Department (Great Start Readiness Program - GSRP) Reports To: GSRP Lead Teacher and GSRP Supervisor Location of Work: Offsite: Hartford Public Schools Base Location: Special Services Building 701 North Paw Paw Street Lawrence, MI 49064 Job Goal(s): The primary job goals of the GSRP Associate Teacher are to effectively become a member of a GSRP teaching team and to participate in planning and executing all related activities, including conducting and participating in children's activities. In addition, the associate teacher will support the infrastructure of the classroom by participating fully in record keeping, maintenance of the environment and all other required activities. Qualifications: Education: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development OR Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required* *Note: Consideration may be given to a candidate meeting minimal grant requirements for education. Requires placement on a compliance plan to reach qualification within a defined time frame. Support for some costs may be available through Michigan AEYC T.E.A.C.H. scholarship program. Work Experience: Previous work experience in early childhood is preferred Essential Job Functions Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required

• Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and program

• Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds

• Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher.

• Participate in planning and preparing the learning environment, lesson plans, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.

• Supervise the classroom in the teacher's presence and/or absence.

• Assist with general housekeeping and food preparation tasks.

• Attend all meetings and recommended training programs and professional development.

• Maintain confidentiality about children and their families.

• Supervise and participate in outdoor play.

• Participate in recordkeeping: attendance, meals/snacks, assessments, screens, etc.

• Participate in home visits with lead teacher upon request.

• Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned by lead teacher and/or supervisors.

• Make student-centered decisions

• Adhere to federal, state and VBISD policies and procedures

• Model VBISD guidelines: Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence

• Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon timelines

• Seek ongoing improvement and accept feedback in a professional way

• Perform additional tasks, responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Director or Superintendent.

• Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, bend and move up and down from the floor throughout the day.

• Ability to lift 30 - 50 pounds

• Must have the stamina and agility to run or move quickly
