SUMMARY DESCRIPTION Assists the Route Coordinator with the planning, coordination, and maintenance of student transportation services, including bus assignments, bus stops, routes, and student transportation records. Supports the safe, effective, and efficient transportation of students by maintaining accurate routing data, coordinating with public and non-public schools, contractors, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders, and assisting with daily routing operations. This position does not include bus driver duties. The incumbent is not eligible for bus driver assignments. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Assists the Route Coordinator in responding to phone calls and emails from parents/guardians regarding bus stops, routes, schedules, and transportation concerns. Communicates changes to bus stop locations, pickup/drop-off times, and route assignments as directed.

• Communicates and coordinates with public, non-public, and special education schools regarding student transportation assignments, pickup and drop-off times, shuttle schedules, and related transportation matters.

• Uses routing software, GPS systems, and other transportation technology to assist with creating, reviewing, and modifying bus routes and stops.

• Maintains accurate transportation records for more than 10,000 students. Updates student transportation assignments throughout the school year, including grade progression and changes in transportation needs. Reviews and verifies transportation data for accuracy and state reporting requirements, including mileage reconciliation.

• Reviews routes for capacity, scheduling, and operational imbalances and recommends adjustments to improve efficiency and service.

• Coordinates with school personnel and the Route Coordinator to assign appropriate transportation resources based on student IEPs, accommodations, and other transportation requirements. This includes specialized equipment and vehicles, such as wheelchair-accessible buses, as well as awareness and coordination of transportation-related medical needs, including allergies and asthma.

• Serves as the primary Transportation Department contact for split-custody transportation inquiries. Maintains accurate records of split-custody families, obtains required documentation in accordance with District policy, communicates information to school principals and other appropriate personnel, and updates records as needed.

• Serves as a primary contact for transportation contractors regarding route changes, new routes, student additions and changes, and general route and student transportation questions.

• Creates and maintains operational spreadsheets and records, including driver depot and route assignments, driver hours, seniority, and other routing-related information.

• Creates and manages the summer transportation database in Transfinder. Develops and maintains summer route lists and driver/aide hours and assignment records. Assigns drivers and aides to summer routes according to seniority and established District procedures based on employees who have signed up for summer work.

• Reviews and enters applicable student alerts from PowerSchool into Transfinder student transportation records to ensure routing personnel and transportation providers have accurate and current information.

• Provides coverage for the Routing Secretary during absences and ensures essential daily routing and administrative responsibilities are completed.

• Provides coverage for the Route Coordinator during absences to support continuity of operations within the Routing Department.

• Performs other transportation-related projects and duties as assigned by the Route Coordinator or Supervisor of Transportation.

Salary is $69,785 for the 2026-2027 school year. Salary and benefits per current LMEA Agreement.
