FAIRVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Director of Facilities, Maintenance, and Grounds Management REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools QUALIFICATIONS:

• Five years experience in facilities maintenance, design, or management

• Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience in Engineering/Maintenance

• Experience in Physical Plant Maintenance

• Ability to supervise personnel

• Ability to understand architectural drawings

• Ability to use and understand HVAC control systems

• Knowledge of contracts and human resources management

• Leadership experience

• Ability to use a computer

POSITION GOAL: To provide all students with a physical learning environment that is safe, clean, attractive, and smooth functioning. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares periodic reports for the Board on the state of facilities.

• Plans and schedules maintenance and repair requirements of the district.

• Maintains appropriate maintenance, grounds keeping, security, and custodial requirements for each school building and maintenance.

• Inspects all school buildings, grounds, and installations on a weekly basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety, and security are maintained.

• Conducts periodic inspection of all school facilities to ensure fire safety is evident.

• Keeps informed of the latest trends, developments, and products in the areas of maintenance, repair, and upkeep, and encourages innovation and experimentation as appropriate.

• Prepares and administers the budget for maintenance, grounds, security, and custodial supplies and equipment.

• Works with architect in design and supervises and inspects the improvements and renovation work performed by outside contractors, and verifies that the terms of all such contracts have been fulfilled before authorizing final payments.

• Provides staff with training and professional development as needed.

• Schedules work routines for departmental personnel.

• Coordinates vacation schedules for departmental personnel.

• Directs the preparation of playing fields, grounds, and other necessary facilities for athletics and other school activities.

• Coordinates with local, county, and state agencies on such items as possible health hazards, safety items, snow removal, sanitary matters, adequate water supplies, and fire protection.

• Attends committee meetings and public school board meetings.

• Organizes and implements a program of preventative maintenance and consults with building principals regarding the establishment of regular preventive maintenance programs.

• Selects the custodial supplies and equipment to be used and maintains an appropriate inventory.

• Establishes and supervises summer cleaning programs and schedules.

• Establishes and administers rules and procedures regarding availability and custody of all keys/fobs to district facilities.

• Establishes routines for regularly checking district facilities during times when the facilities are not in use.

• Works with maintenance contracts, repairs, and replacement of all HVAC equipment through a replacement cycle.

• Serves as a member of the district's Safety Committee.

• Demonstrates and fosters a positive work ethic and promotes high standards of behavior and performance for employees.

• Works collaboratively with the district administration, Fairview Township Supervisors and Fairview Parks & Rec Authority.

• Evaluates all maintenance employees.

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month basis. Salary to be negotiated with the Board of Directors. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
