About this role
We are currently looking for applicants for the role of Retail Sales Assistant under the Work Placement Experience Programme. This placement is ideal for someone who wants to build confidence, gain hands-on experience, and develop practical skills in a supportive environment. Participants will receive excellent on-the-job training and be supported by a mentor. This is a training-and-experience role, and participants will be fully supported throughout the placement. You will gain experience in: - Preparing and pricing stock. - Merchandising and presentation of the store. - Serving customers and assisting with customer queries in relation to products and stock. - Operating and balancing a computerised till system. - Health and Safety in the Workplace. This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP. Formal training: - Manual handling - Health & Safety - Customer Service - Product Knowledge Informal training: - Cash handling & POS (point of sale) - Customer Service - The safe operation of machinery and equipment - Assist with the carry out of inventory management - Cleaning and hygiene standards - Retail skills - Communication Skills - Teamwork
