About this role

Job summary The Clinical Engineering Service is responsible for managing a wide range of medical equipment and associated services across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, supporting the safe and effective delivery of patient care. Working as part of the Service Reception Team, you will play a key role in supporting technical and clinical staff by coordinating service activities and helping to ensure the smooth operation of the department. The post is primarily based at St Jamess University Hospital, with occasional cover required at Leeds General Infirmary.

Main duties of the job Clinical Engineering is a large, diverse, and welcoming team within the Medical Physics Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, forming part of the Oncology Clinical Service Unit. We play a vital role in supporting patient care by managing the lifecycle of approximately 40,000 medical devices used across the Trust and community healthcare settings throughout Leeds and the surrounding areas. Our Reception Team is at the heart of the department, providing essential administrative and operational support that helps keep services running efficiently.

What you will bring to the role We are looking for a proactive and organised individual who enjoys working in a busy, team-focused environment and can provide high-quality support to both technical and clinical services. In this role, you will:

Support technical teams by coordinating service requests and managing job workflows. Manage and procure spare parts for the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. Accurately record equipment and service information using departmental databases. Handle incoming equipment for repair and service, ensuring efficient processing and scheduling. Manage goods receiving activities, including checking and processing deliveries. Maintain equipment inventory records and asset registration data. Assist with the commissioning and acceptance of new medical equipment. Prepare and package medical equipment safely for transport and external repairs. Carry out minor equipment repairs and checks where appropriate. Contribute to service improvements and develop procedures within your area of responsibility. This role would suit someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering a reliable service that supports patient care across the Trust.
