Job summary
The Linden Medical Group is a busy, forward-thinking GP practice providing care to approximately 7000 patients in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire.
Due to the relocation of our current postholder, we are currently seeking an experienced, organised and proactive Practice Supervisor to join our management team. This is a key operational role within the practice, providing day-to-day supervision of our reception, administration and secretarial teams whilst ensuring high standards of service, professionalism and accountability are maintained.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Supervisor will provide day-to-day leadership and management of the practice's reception, administration and secretarial teams, ensuring high standards of service, professionalism and accountability are maintained.
The postholder will oversee staff performance, training, workflow management and operational processes, providing support, guidance and constructive challenge where required. They will act as the first point of management escalation for routine patient complaints and non-clinical staff matters and will play a key role in ensuring policies, procedures and agreed ways of working are applied consistently across the practice.
Additional responsibilities include administration of GP and clinician rotas, coordination of Enhanced Hours services, development of the Patient Participation Group, organisation of annual PAT testing, administration of monthly PPA claims following training, and support with practice policies, procedures and operational projects.
We are looking for an experienced primary care supervisor who is confident leading teams, maintaining standards, promoting accountability and addressing issues promptly, fairly and consistently.

Job description Job responsibilities
The Practice Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and supervision of the practice's reception, administration and secretarial teams, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, consistently and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include staff supervision, performance monitoring, monthly 1:1 chats with staff in probation, training coordination, workflow management and ensuring compliance with practice policies, procedures and agreed ways of working. The postholder will act as the first point of management escalation for routine patient complaints and non-clinical staff matters, promoting accountability and supporting a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.
Additional duties include administration of GP and clinician rotas, coordination of Enhanced Hours services, management of the Patient Participation Group, organisation of annual PAT testing, administration of monthly PPA claims following training, policy and procedure updates and support with operational projects as delegated by the Practice Manager.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide visible and consistent leadership, maintain standards, support staff development and ensure agreed actions are followed through effectively.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Good standard of general education, including English and Maths. Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Experience Essential
Significant experience working within a GP practice or primary care environment. Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience within a GP practice. Experience of managing or supervising non-clinical staff. Experience of addressing day-to-day staff performance, conduct or attendance issues. Experience of handling patient complaints and service concerns. Experience of training, supporting and developing staff. Experience of SystmOne. Understanding of General Practice operations and NHS primary care services. Understanding of Enhanced Hours and GP rota administration.
Desirable
Experience of rota management. Experience of Patient Participation Groups. Experience of policy and procedure development. Experience of supporting practice operational improvement projects.
