Main duties of the job

As the first point of contact for our patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals, you will play a vital role in creating a positive patient experience and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

This is a varied and rewarding position that combines front-line reception duties with important administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will be highly organised, confident using IT systems, and able to remain calm and professional when working under pressure.

Key ResponsibilitiesWelcoming patients and visitors in a professional, friendly, and compassionate mannerAnswering incoming telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries efficientlyBooking, cancelling, and amending appointmentsProcessing prescription requests and administrative queriesManaging patient communications via telephone, email, and online servicesSupporting clinicians and the wider practice team with administrative tasksUpdating and maintaining accurate patient recordsAssisting patients in accessing appropriate healthcare servicesHandling confidential information in accordance with NHS and GDPR requirementsContributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the practice

Qualifications Essential

A-Level qualification or higher Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel Good written and verbal communication skills Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

Desirable

Certificate of Higher Education or equivalent qualification

Experience Essential

Proven customer service experience Experience using Microsoft Office applications Experience handling enquiries professionally and efficiently

Desirable

Previous experience working in a GP practice Experience within primary care or healthcare settings Knowledge of NHS services and patient pathways NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care Certificate of Higher Education or equivalent qualification
