About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Quality & Safety Manager to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. We are seeking a skilled professional to help lead the Trust's approach to patient safety, learning and improvement, working closely with clinical and corporate teams across the organisation.

As a key member of the Office of the Medical Director, you will provide expert analysis and oversight of patient safety information, support the delivery of PSIRF and related governance processes, and identify themes and emerging risks to drive meaningful improvements in quality and safety.

You will play a key role in supporting senior leaders through high-quality reporting, assurance and insight, while building effective relationships across the Trust to promote a strong culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for helping oversee the Trust's patient safety governance and learning processes, ensuring effective oversight of PSIRF, patient safety events and learning responses. You will provide expert analysis of patient safety data and triangulate this with wider quality intelligence to identify themes, emerging risks and areas for improvement. Working closely with clinical and corporate teams, you will coordinate key patient safety governance meetings, oversee actions and performance against agreed measures, and provide accurate and timely reports and assurance to senior and executive leaders. You will provide advice and support to clinical teams on patient safety, PSIRF, quality governance and improvement, while managing the day-to-day administration of the Quality & Safety team. The role will also be responsible for identifying and monitoring themes, trends and opportunities for learning across the Trust, supporting the development and delivery of safety improvement priorities and ensuring learning is translated into effective improvement plans. You will build strong relationships with stakeholders across the Trust and wider healthcare system, using high-quality data, analysis and insight to support continuous improvement in quality, safety and patient care.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working.

Experience Essential

Experience of working with an acute hospital service environment. Experience of managing and analysing a wide range of patient safety information and data. Management experience within the NHS. Working in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience working in patient safety or quality governance in an acute Trust.

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities Essential

Expertise in analysing and trending large datasets. Identifying and predicting areas poor performance. Project Management Skills.
