Main duties of the job
Background
TPC is now further developing its organisational infrastructure and responding to new service development opportunities. TPC holds contracts for the delivery of Dermatology and Minor Surgery services, and the provision of clinicians into the Bradford Enhanced Access Service. We have a Pharmacy Hub with clinicians working on behalf of Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and deliver a Warfarin service to practices across Bradford District & Craven.
The TPC Pharmacy Hub provides a supportive training platform for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working in primary care. Pharmacy staff are integrated into the primary care team in PCNs and into the Warfarin service. We aim to provide training opportunities to pharmacy technicians and pharmacists from under-graduate to senior level and offer a wide range of career development options from education and mentoring to front line primary care provision or specialist services.
Role Purpose
As an experienced pharmacist with a minimum of 3 years of working post-qualification in general practice, you will work with managers, the GP Clinical Lead, the Lead Clinical Pharmacist and the team of Pharmacists & Pharmacy Technicians to provide a high-quality pharmacy service to our practices & PCNs in a supportive, learning environment.

Experience Essential
A minimum of 3 years experience of working within general practice, post-qualification. Experience of the breadth of common acute and long-terms conditions that are likely to be seen in general practice. Able to analyse and interpret complex prescribing information. A growth mindset which has contributed to service expansion, innovation, or development. Evidence of significant personal professional development. Experience of communicating and engaging effectively with external agencies or stakeholders.
Desirable
Experience of dosing warfarin and other anticoagulant drugs. Experience of mentoring or training other pharmacy staff within the primary care setting.
Knowledge and understanding Essential
Knowledge of NHS structures and primary care delivery models Understands the principles of research governance. Understands the principles and importance of evidence-based healthcare. Understands the wider determinants of health, including social, economic, and environmental factors and their impact on communities.

Qualifications Essential
Professional knowledge acquired through vocational masters degree in pharmacy (4 years) + 1 year pre-registration training. Mandatory registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Extensive knowledge of medicines optimisation, acquired through post graduate clinical pharmacy diploma or equivalent experience or training. Successful completion of CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway (PCPEP). Successful completion of, or currently studying to become, an Independent Prescriber. Demonstrates an understanding of, and conforms to, relevant standards of practice. Follows professional and organisational policies/procedures relating to performance management.
Desirable
Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy.
Other Essential
Meets DBS reference standards and has a clear criminal record, in line with the law on spent convictions. Adaptable. Works effectively independently and as a team player. Self-motivated. Access to own transport and ability to travel across the locality on a regular basis. There is an expectation that all clinical staff may need to visit patients in their own homes at times and/or attend practice meetings.
Skills and abilities Essential
Meets the requirements outlined in Appendices 1 & 2 of the NHSEs "NHS England Foundation Trainee Pharmacist Programme: Training Site Requirements" Able to communicate complex and sensitive information in an understandable form to a variety of audiences. Appreciates the nature of prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improving prescribing, within the general practice setting. Knowledge of IT systems, including ability to use word processing skills, emails, and the internet to create simple plans and reports. Able to obtain and analyse complex technical information. Able to think analytically; anticipating obstacles and thinking ahead; using analytical techniques to identify several solutions. Able to implement medicines optimisation projects and programmes. Understands the wider determinants of health, including social, economic, and environmental factors and their impact on communities.
Desirable
Ability to interpret warfarin-relevant blood results. Appreciation of relevant criteria required when prescribing warfarin or other anticoagulant drugs. Understands the principles of research governance.
