Job summary

Ward Administrator (Band 2)

Location: Whiston and St Helens HospitalsHours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Floating Ward Administrator to join our team. This is a key front-facing role, providing high-quality administrative support to help ensure the smooth day-to-day running on a variety of busy clinical wards within our hospitals.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors, ensuring a professional and welcoming service at all times.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties

Meet and greet patients and visitors to the ward Answer telephone queries and liaise with patients and relatives Book and request patient appointments and discharge arrangements Maintain accurate patient records and ensure data quality compliance Return and manage case notes and ward documentation Ensure ward activity and appointments are recorded correctly

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

You will:

Have good IT and administrative skills, including experience of using patient systems or similar Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills Be organised, reliable, and able to prioritise workload effectively Work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and use your own initiative Previous NHS or clerical experience is desirable but not essential.
