About this role

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife with a passion for community-based care to join our friendly and well established team.

Full time and part time positions are available. You must be able to work weekends and overnight on calls.

Our midwives work either 10 or 7.5 hour days, covering a 7 day a week service on a rostered basis.

Our community area is large and you must be able to travel independently between clinical sites and women's homes.

Main duties of the job

Our community midwives work in teams to provide antenatal and postnatal care to a geographically defined group of women, as well as provide intrapartum care at homebirths as part of an on call rota.

Occasional support of the inpatient unit as part of the escalation process is also required.

Job description Job responsibilities

You will provide antenatal and postnatal care in hospital /community clinics and womens homes and will be required to participate in the community on call service to support women birthing at home and the trust escalation process.

You will provide a full range of perinatal care, including health education, liaising with multi-disciplinary/agency groups to continually improve maternity care for women and their families.

You will be responsive to the needs of the women and obtain user views as appropriate. You will be required to support student midwives and junior members of staff as we guide and encourage them through their professional development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate midwife with excellent communication and time management skills.

Person Specification

Education Essential

Current NMC Registered Midwife qualification

Desirable

Mentorship qualification

Knowledge Essential

Understanding of the role of the midwife as defined by the NMC and The Code An in depth understanding of all aspects of evidenced based practice

Experience Essential

Experience of working in all areas of midwifery, including intrapartum experience and completion of preceptorship
