Youll work across both reception and administration, helping patients and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

This is a permanent 25-hour contract with a flexible working pattern to cover annual leave. Hours will vary according to practice needs, so you may work fewer hours some weeks and more in others.

Your pay will remain based on 25 hours per week, and rotas are provided one month in advance. There will be occasions when you work full time hours which are 37.5 hrs per week.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of a GP receptionist include:

Welcoming patients and dealing with enquiries in person and by telephone.Booking, changing and cancelling appointments using the clinical system.Signposting patients to the most appropriate service or clinician using practice protocols.Processing patient requests, including prescriptions, test results and general queries.Registering new patients and keeping patient information accurate and up to date.Handling confidential and sensitive information in line with GDPR and practice policies.Supporting clinicians with administrative tasks, messages and patient correspondence.Managing incoming documents, emails, post and other communications.Working closely with the wider practice team to support the smooth day-to-day running of the surgery.Dealing professionally and sensitively with patients who may be unwell, distressed or frustrated.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE grade A to C or equivalent

Desirable

Experience in a GP setting Office experience Working with the general public
