About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Digital Project Manager to join our Digital Services team and play a key role in delivering the Trust's digital transformation agenda. Working across a diverse portfolio of projects, you will lead the planning, coordination and implementation of digital solutions that support clinical services, improve patient outcomes and enhance the experience of staff across the organisation. You will work closely with clinicians, operational managers, technical specialists and external suppliers to ensure projects are delivered successfully, on time and within budget, whilst maintaining a clear focus on benefits realisation and service improvement.

As a PRINCE2 Practitioner, you will manage projects throughout their full lifecycle, from business case development and procurement through to implementation, adoption and transition into business-as-usual operations. The role requires excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into practical solutions for a wide range of audiences. Main duties of the job

As a Digital Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of digital and technology projects across West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. Working with clinical, operational and technical colleagues, you will manage projects throughout their full lifecycle, from initial scoping and business case development through to implementation, benefits realisation and transition into business-as-usual operations. You will ensure that projects are delivered to agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards, whilst maintaining a strong focus on patient benefit, service improvement and organisational priorities.

The role requires effective engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinicians, senior managers, suppliers and partner organisations. You will be responsible for developing project plans, managing risks and issues, monitoring progress, reporting through governance structures and supporting decision-making through the analysis and presentation of complex information. In addition, you will contribute to the development of business cases, procurement activities, benefits management and the adoption of best-practice project management methodologies. As part of the Digital Services team, you will play a key role in driving innovation, supporting organisational change and ensuring that digital solutions deliver meaningful and sustainable improvements across the Trust.

As a Digital Project Manager, you will take the lead in delivering complex digital and technology-enabled change programmes that support the Trusts strategic objectives and improve the quality of care provided to patients. You will be responsible for managing projects through their entire lifecycle, from initiation and business case development through to implementation, benefits realisation and project closure. Working within a structured PRINCE2 project management framework, you will develop project documentation, manage risks and issues, oversee budgets and resources, and ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.

The role requires close collaboration with clinical, operational and technical stakeholders across the organisation, as well as external suppliers and partner organisations. You will facilitate workshops, lead project meetings, produce reports for governance groups and present complex information in a clear and accessible manner to support informed decision-making. You will also play a key role in driving stakeholder engagement, supporting organisational change and ensuring that digital solutions are successfully embedded into operational practice.

You will be expected to provide strong project leadership, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and fostering effective working relationships to deliver successful outcomes. Responsibilities will include developing business cases, supporting procurement activities, monitoring project benefits, overseeing testing and implementation activities, and ensuring robust governance processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will help shape the future of digital services at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust by delivering innovative solutions that improve patient care, enhance staff experience and support long-term organisational transformation.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications Essential

Educated to master level or equivalent experience in a project management role. PRINCE2 practitioner or equivalent from a recognised professional body (e.g. APM, PMI) Evidence of recent continuous professional development, particularly within project management, change management etc.

Desirable

Qualification in other project management methodologies (e.g. MoR, MoV, MSP, Agile or P3O) Benefits management course

Experience and knowledge Essential

Highly specialist knowledge based on: o Experience in successfully delivering projects across infrastructure and clinical systems, implementation and optimisation of digital solutions. oin-depth professional experience in project management, including managing resources, budgets, deadlines and milestones across complex projects. Ability to identify risks and issues as they relate to projects. Experience in benefits identification and management.

Desirable

Good knowledge of business change techniques, ideally in a healthcare environment. Experience in a large complex organisation, NHS or public sector setting. Experience of writing project strategies including Communications, Configuration, Quality and Risk

Skills and abilities Essential

Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, including report writing Highly articulate and able to deliver technical information in non-technical and user-friendly language. Aptitude for sharing knowledge with team members both within the Trust and outside. Able to develop business cases and manage complex projects.

Personal qualities Essential

Ability to empower others. Accountable for own actions and promotes good team working. Effective self-management. Willingness to travel to other sites to meet the needs of the role. Flexible approach to working hours and duties.
