We are seeking oneexperienced and motivated Specialist Clinical Coder to join our dynamic Clinical Coding Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

This role follows a hybrid working model. Onsite presence is expected as and when business needs require (typically 1 or 2 days per week) to support collaboration, knowledge sharing and consistency as the department continues its transformation.

Main duties of the job

As a Specialist Clinical Coder, you will:

Accurately abstract, analyse, and assign complex diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications Work closely with clinical teams to validate and enhance the quality of coded data Take the lead on specific specialties and complex coding scenarios Act as a mentor to junior coders and support their development Contribute to clinical engagement, KPI monitoring, audit preparation and data quality improvement

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Accredited Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC)

Desirable

Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (e.g. Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)

Experience Essential

Substantial Clinical Coding expertise across all specialties and levels of complexity Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology

Skills Essential

Ability to analyse and abstract complex records Ability to resolve complex coding issues and aptly articulate resolutions Able to identify data quality issues and coding workflow impediments and use sound intuition to resolve

Desirable

Working knowledge of SQL to interrogate data
