Respiratory Physiotherapist - 37.5 - Permanent

The Community COPD Service are looking for a Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service/Team. Are you a motivated and highly skilled Physiotherapist, with a genuine passion for Respiratory? The post holder will assist in delivering Stockport's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme, with in a community setting, for people living with respiratory conditions and/or heart failure. You will be working alongside a dedicated, highly specialised team, of physiotherapists, clinical nurse specialists and assistant practitioners. It is a varied role including managing assessment clinics, and delivering exercise and education classes. You must have excellent communication skills, and strong work ethic, in return we can offer you a supportive working environment to develop your skills within the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service.

Main duties of the job

Be clinically responsible for a designated caseload of COPD/chronic lung condition and heart failure (HF) patients undergoing rehabilitation, ensuring high standards of care.

Organise workload effectively, and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time, and in accordance with service demand/requirements on a changing basis.

Provide advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, psychological and emotional conditions.

Use advanced assessment techniques, interpretation of diagnostic test results and use advanced clinical reasoning skills, to confirm a patient's diagnosis and formulate an evidence based, goal orientated treatment plan.

Use of relevant and appropriate screening tools.

Review medical therapy, supported by Respiratory ACP, Non-Medical Prescribers (NMPs) and Lead Physiotherapist to ensure safe and effective treatments/management.

Education & Qualifications Essential

Degree in Physiotherapy HCPC registration

Knowledge Essential

Knowledge and understanding of current government, professional and organisational standards/policies in relation to COPD and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Sound knowledge of COPD and other chronic lung pathologies Knowledge of national standards and guidelines for COPD.

Desirable

An understanding of heart failure and associated conditions

Skills & Abilities Essential

Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Committed to personal and team development High level of communication and interpersonal skills. Effective teaching and presentation skills.
