Mill View Court is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and compassionate Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join our established multidisciplinary team.
Mill View Court is a 15-bedded mixed-sex assessment unit providing assessment and intervention for individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties. We are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care within a trauma-informed environment, supporting service users through challenging periods in their lives.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive team where no two days are the same. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting service users on their recovery journey, working alongside nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
We are looking for someone who is motivated, caring, and resilient, with excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. A good level of self-awareness and the confidence to use your initiative are essential.

Main duties of the job
Mill View Court is a 15-bedded mixed assessment unit that provides assessment and intervention for individuals experiencing increased mental health difficulties.
As part of this diverse and ever-evolving role, the successful candidate will be required to:
Provide and receive routine information, demonstrating reassurance, empathy, and de-escalation skills where appropriate.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills when supporting individuals with complex needs.
Support patients throughout their admission, including providing care and support during periods of crisis.
Support individuals in completing relevant assessment tools and documentation, including the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), Recovery and Quality of Life assessments, and physical health assessments such as the Health Improvement Profile (HIP).
Help facilitate therapeutic interventions and distraction techniques for service users.
Undertake basic physical health observations using the National Early Warning Score (NEWS2) tool and report any significant findings to the nurse in charge.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills relevant to the field of practice.Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team and report any concerns to the nurse in charge, including changes in a patient's presentation observed through routine observations or supportive engagement.
Recognise and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
