Receptionist - Emergency Department - Band 2
Emergency Care
An enthusiastic and self motivated individual is required to provide support to the Accident and Emergency Department on a part time basis.
The department operates a 24/7 service and the successful candidate will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. This will be on a rota basis and cover day, night, weekend and bank holiday shifts. Enhanced rates apply for unsocial hours.
Main duties of the job
Applicants require excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure in a sensitive and highly pressurised environments. A minimum of 1 year's previous experience as a receptionist/administrator with experience of customer services including responding to difficult customers is essential along with face to face working with the general public.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GCSE or equivalent at grade D or above in English and Mathematics
Desirable
NVQ in Customer Care OCR/RSA III OCR 1 or equivalent in typing/word processing qualification
Experience and knowledge Essential
Minimum of 1 year's experience as a receptionist/administrator with experience of customer services including responding to difficult customers Experience of "face to face" working with the general public
Desirable
Experience of working in a highly pressurised area
Skills, abilities and competencies Essential
Good IT skills including the ability to undertake basic data collection/entry Excellent communication and telephone skills Ability to concentrate with frequent interruptions and able to change work direction at short notice

Knowledge of NHS IT systems e.g. IPM, EDIS
