Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnician to join our team in Seattle, WA

Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 8:00pm -4:30am

Job Responsibilities

Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam

Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens

Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide

Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections

Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures

Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens

Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures

Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments

Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed

Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner

Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies

Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting

Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as neededPerform other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Histology or a High School diploma or equivalent with 1 or more years of histology experience Preferred Qualification:

Current or prior Labcorp experience

Histology and/or ASCP certifications Additional Job Standards

Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment

Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens

Ability to accurately read all labels and documents

Highly organized with a strong attention to detail

Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment

Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols

Able to pass a standardized color blindness test **Pay Range: $29.10 - $44.47 per hour

All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience and the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Dynacare Northwest, Inc. and United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 21.

Benefits: Regular, full-time or part-time employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), accrue up to 18 days of Annual Leave per year (includes 8 holidays) and Sick Leave (0.0333) hours of sick leave for each hour of work) capped at 64 hours per year, Tuition Reimbursement and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
