The Department of Biology research group on “Developmental Genetics and Cell Biology of Animals”, Prof. Dr. Christian Helker is currently accepting applications for a Doctoral Researcher The position is offered for a period of 3 years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The starting date is 2026-12-01. The position is part-time (65 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 65 %). Investigate lymphangiogenesis using the zebrafish model. Investigate interactions between different cell types and lymphatic vessels across various organs using advanced zebrafish models Generate, characterize, and validate transgenic zebrafish lines Contribute to scientific and technical support activities within the research group. Supervise and mentor to bachelor’s and master’s students involved in the research The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct the independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate. The limitation complies to Section 2(1) of the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG). Completed MSc degree or equivalent in biology Excellent knowledge of molecular biology Strong interest and experience in the fields of imaging, immunohistochemistry/histology, and image processing Excellent data analysis skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work in a team, a high level of intrinsic motivation, and enthusiasm for research Disposition to own scientific qualification (e.g., a doctoral project in the field of hematopoiesis) is expected. State-of-the-art imaging technologies (confocal, spinning-disk, and light-sheet microscopy) Multi-omics approaches across various zebrafish models A collaborative, innovative, and supportive research environment Professional development opportunities, including training, coaching, and mentoring We actively support the professional development of junior researchers by the offers of Marburg Research Academy (MARA), the International Office and the Higher Education Didactics Office.
