We are now entering the most important phase of our growth: institutionalizing excellence. This is the shift from growth powered by heroics to growth powered by systems, discipline, and repeatability.
* Assist in preparing month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing and posting of journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and other adjustments. * Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliation to the general ledger. * Assist with prepaid expenses, accruals, intercompany transactions, and other accounting schedules. * Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes. * Assist in preparing supporting documentation and schedules for external auditors and year-end financial statement audits. * Maintain and review product costs, including material, labour, and manufacturing overhead components. * Support the development and maintenance of standard costs and update costing information as required. * Analyze actual manufacturing costs against standards, budgets, and prior periods. * Investigate cost variances and work with Operations, Production, and Purchasing to understand underlying causes. * Assist with other ad hoc projects, analyses, and duties as required.
Qualifications
* Bachelor?s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. * Approximately 2?5 years of accounting experience, preferably including experience in a manufacturing environment. * Experience with both general accounting and cost accounting is preferred. * Good understanding of general ledger accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statements. * Experience with ERP/accounting systems; experience working with manufacturing ERP systems is an asset. * Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and analysis of large data sets. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet month-end and reporting deadlines. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work effectively with both Finance and non-Finance departments. * CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program is an asset.
