About this role

*Job Summary* We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and assisting ophthalmologists with various clinical tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical office experience and a passion for helping patients achieve optimal eye health.

*Duties*

* Perform preliminary eye exams and diagnostic tests to assess patients' vision and eye health. * Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. * Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, providing necessary support for patient comfort and safety. * Educate patients on eye care, treatment options, and the use of prescribed medications or eyewear. * Manage front desk operations, including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and handling patient inquiries. * Maintain an organized and efficient workflow within the office, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized and functioning. * Collaborate with optical staff to facilitate the sales of eyewear and related products. * Utilize medical terminology effectively to communicate with both patients and healthcare professionals.

*Requirements*

* Previous medical office experience is required; experience in an ophthalmology setting is preferred. * Familiarity with electronic medical records systems; experience with Epic is a plus. * Strong patient care skills, demonstrating empathy and professionalism in all interactions. * Experience in front desk operations, including appointment scheduling and patient communication. * Knowledge of optical products and services; retail sales experience is advantageous. * Understanding of medical terminology related to ophthalmology is essential. * Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus but not mandatory. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are crucial for success in this role.
