About this role
*Overview:*
Construction labourers are responsible for complete a variety of tasks; this includes lifting, shoveling, digging locates, raking gravel, operating jack hammers, moving barricades, and running plate tampers.
*Duties/Tasks:*
* Responsible for checking equipment and informing mechanics and supervisors of mechanical problems with the equipment; * Identifying hazards on site; * Learning general construction practices involving road construction; * Understand the issues involving ground disturbance and work in / implement safe work practices; and * Contribute to a safe work environment.
*Knowledge/Skills Required:*
* Must have a valid driver?s license - Class 5. * Must be physically able to perform all physical actions pertinent to the tools and equipment operated. * Must be willing to learn and take direction. * Must be able to communicate well with co-workers. * Must be able to work under pressure in some situations. * Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies. * Must be willing to work overtime as required.
*Working Conditions:*
* Travel between local job sites as required * Overtime, evenings and weekends as required * Work outdoors in a dusty and noisy construction environment, potentially in adverse weather conditions * Potential to drive company vehicles or equipment * Must meet and adhere to all safety requirements and applicable safety policies, including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing
